The significance of Nick turning 30, is that its his birthday. Through everything thats happened he still can enjoy his birthday. The one day a year when he can be totally happy no matter what is going on around him. The significant thing about this day of chaos and dilemma, is that it is Nick's 30th birthday. To me, it is kinda funny that his birthday is on this day because your birthday is supposed to be a day of joy and happiness.

To Nick, it still is and he tries to not let this trouble affect his day. He sorta kept it to himself that it was his birthday because everyone else was dealing with their own problems throughout this chapter.

He did not want to make a big deal about it, and to me, this shows Nick is a very considerate person. The fact that it is Nicks 30th birthday on what can be viewed to be the climax of the book is satire to me.

It is a turning point in his life his is maturing quite a bit. The significance of the day being Nick's 30th birthday is to show how pure hearted Nick is. Although his birthday is supposed to be the one day of the year that is for him, he continues to deal with all of his friends problems.

I agree with everyone else. Even though Nick is involved in all this chaos and maybe involved in the vehicular homocide, he still found some hapiness in it all. He seemed a little sarcastic when he mentioned that it was his birthday. I bet he was trying to calm the mood when he said it. The significance of Nick turning 30, is through all the trouble he had made it to another year.

He is surrounded by others ruins but finds happiness luring in the future.
