Can you put balsamic vinegar on salad

Since then, mustard is always added. It doesn't take much. I prefer my dressing more ratio of oil and vinegar. Also, if you use garlic powder instead of fresh and leave out the shallot, you can leave the dressing out on the counter, so if you are using olive oil, you don't have to wait for it to "melt. Read More. This is my recipe and I want to let you know that I only use a really good quality balsamic for this which tends to be sweet. If you do use a lesser quality vinegar you may need to add a little more honey.

It still turns out great! Simple and delicious! Definitely use a good quality balsamic and you can't go wrong. This has a nice sweetness to it - perfect over mixed greens!

Rating: 4 stars. I'm not typically a fan of balsamic vinegar, but I did like this dressing. Neither overly sweet nor overly tangy, tho' I did adjust the oil and vinegar to the ratio I prefer. I will make this dressing forever!!!! I didn't have shallots so I subbed with a oinch of onion powder Did the trick!

Sarah Jo. This is incredible. I made this early this morning so it would have time to set before dinner. I did increase the garlic but that's really a matter of personal taste. I think this would be really good with some chopped fresh basil. Toasted the walnuts on a frying pan drizzled with a little olive oil for a couple of minutes, makes a difference! This is definitely giving me something to look forward to.

Delicious salad! The vinaigrette was exceptional. My husband and I actually made single serving portions of this salad and your Apple Crunch Salad to compare flavors since both the salads and dressings are very similar. We liked the Apple Crunch Salad dressing which was sweeter in taste, but the balsamic dressing brought more overall flavor and not as sweet to the salad.

A keeper for sure! Also the salad itself can certainly handle substitutions like you suggested: sunflower seeds, blue cheese, romaine lettuce, dried cherries, etc. I made this for my mom and myself. It was incredible. It was quite decadent, as I went overboard with the olive oil and the feta, but this is a great filling salad and could go with a light vegetable soup or just plain broth like I like it.

I enjoyed it so much that I made it again another day and plan to make it again tonight for dinner.

The dressing is so easy to assemble as well! I added some halved grapes in it the last time and that was also a tasty addition! I just recently discovered your website and recipes. I am so glad I did. I made this salad using red onions that I pickled and mixed salad nuts. I will be making this for Christmas. I am going to try it with spinach instead of the lettuce next time.

So easy, so good. Thank you Brenda and welcome! Hi Rebecca: You can give it a try! Let me know how it turns out.

I made this tonight to go with pizza and it was my favourite salad ever. Your email address will not be published. Scale 1x 2x 3x. Dijon mustard 2 tsp. Prepare the vinaigrette : in a small bowl, combine the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mustard, and honey. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Assemble the salad: in a large bowl combine the lettuce, apples, red onions, walnuts, and feta. Notes Lettuce: Red leaf, green leaf, romaine, or spinach are all good greens to use in this salad.

I love Balsamic Vinaigrette so much. It is absolutely my go-to salad as well. Both of these are the only salads I can get my husband to eat. These will be perfect for healthier dinners at our house! Did you check out my Spinach and Strawberry Salad?

That used to be the only salad I could get Dustin to eat. I have just read…or at least skimmed you entire blog. My homework is no closer to being done, and I think I was reading it at a strange angle, because my eyes feel weird now… So worth it!

Especially the Watermelon Sorbet! Is it wrong to want this for breakfast? I love simple, flavor-packed salads, and this one is a keeper.
