What if exams were not there
However, growing up at a time when a pandemic was beyond the domain of possibilities even the worst fear and wildest fantasy could not picture a world which students face at this time.
The pandemic has forced students to participate in serious discussions on examinations and if there should be one at all. This could be challenging for any teenager to say the least. No wonder, students of class XII, are confused and those who are entrusted to make decisions for them make matters worse. Ask any parent — the priority every one of them will say, is the safety and security of the child. Education and hence exams can wait. And here we are not even thinking about those children who have lost one or both of their parents.
Ask the teachers- all and sundry will give you innumerable arguments as to why exams at this stage should be unthinkable. But then there are other stakeholders who take a macro view of education. Whether parents or teachers like them or not, these are the people who have been entrusted to take decision for the students of this nation. Are they not parents? Perhaps they do. However, they are between a rock and a hard place. The two choices tabled in the meeting today perhaps failed to touch the nerves of students, parents and teachers alike.
The option on the table of assessment on a few subjects is perhaps, not acceptable. It cannot be unanimously decided that a few selected subjects can replace the whole gamut of subjects that a student is required to study and be assessed at the end of class XII. The other option of objective assessment is also not a viable option. This criterion of objective assessment may not help in fairly assessing the students. On the other hand, it may appear just as an eyewash for an assessment.
Then the question remains what choices we have. The first rational option seems to delay examinations until teachers and students are vaccinated. However, this requires commitment on the part of both central and state governments as well as the teachers and the students and perhaps, their parents.
Furthermore, this may give rise to the presupposition that the government is forcing citizens to be vaccinated and thus may appear dictatorial. Forgot your password? Get help. Password recovery. I just hate these exams but what can I do now I have to face them. After we receive examination notice from the principal our whole day routine gets changed drastically. The exam date starts dancing in front of the eyes. Then I start paying attention to the lectures in the class. Every subject starts coming in front of my eyes. Complicated Mathematical questions, triangle, and squares form the Geometry, various gases from Science and dates which I cannot rememberer form the History books and the English grammar.
This difficult task we have to study to get pass in the exam. Then we friends start exchanging notes and in plying time we just keep on studying and keep searching for the answers. We have to study early in the morning until its time to go to school.
After school, we return home and again start studying. I stop watching TV and study until late at night. During the examination, students are very stressed and finally, the day appears when we appear for the exam.
